PEACE IN THE MIDST OF THE STORM

Exerpt from the Performance, "Peace in the Midst of the Storm"

NARRATOR: I have grown through many of the challenges I used to find daunting when I was a young woman. I find it is easy to get beyond the big storms but it is those small thundershowers that seem to keep me forever in an emotional quandary.

(Anger comes on stage and kind of look up and down, not saying a word). Narrator continues: When I got up this morning, I had one thought in my mind ( pauses for emphasis) I am not going to say or think anything negative about anyone today. That means that I have to find a way to shield myself from negative thinkers and psychic vampires. (Looks at anger with disgust and turns around and continues): you know, if I don’t work hard at it, I find myself slowly slipping into a negative funk. When I allow negative people to enter into my space, it completely drains my energy, and most times, I gladly relinquish the control. If it were my money, I’d fight for dear life to hold on to what I have worked hard to earn. (Says with attitude and defiance). How about you? Do you given into negative forces easier than you would give your money?
