December 31st marks another milestone in my journey; I am retiring from my government job. Many peope have asked me what am I going to do. I am going to do just what I want to do. That sounds awesome doesn't it?

I am presently recruiting for participants in a performance that I would like to do during Black History month and Women's History month. The performance chronicles the experiences of African American women dating from traditional Afria, the transalantic passage, hitting the shores of America and freedom that takes us to the challenges of contempory times. This is a very powerful performance and I am enriched each time I am privileged to produce and direct it. I learn about the powerful people who elect to take this journey with me and I learn lessons from learning of their specific challenges.

Even though this performance speaks to the challenges faced by African American women, it also echos some of the challenges faced by other racial and ethnic women. It is a spiritually empowering experience to learn how our journeys are so similar and this in itself, helps to create bonds across the racial and ethnic lines.
